New Cars in San Antonio: 2016 Civic vs. 2016 Jetta

There’s nothing better that that clean, new car smell – are we right? If you been in the market to buy a brand new car, you’ve landed on the right page. Benson Honda is here to show you how out all of the new cars in San Antonio, the 2016 Civic is the one to buy! What makes it so great? We’ll break it up into 5 reasons for you.

  1. Better safety features than the 2016 Jetta.

With the 2016 Civic, you can drive knowing that you’re keeping yourself and your loved ones safe. The 2016 Civic has speed sensors AND seat sensors that will deploy the smart airbags with different levels of force depending on how fast you are going, and what size the person in the front seat is. Not to mention the optional lane departure warning system that alerts an inattentive driver that they are cruising into the wrong late.

  1. Made to be higher quality.

Honda has a name for quality, and it doesn’t stop with the 2016 Civic. Honda was named 14th in initial quality by J.D. Power while Volkswagen was way down the list at number 23. On a similar note, the 2015 survey of 3-year-old car owners, Honda was ranked 5thin reliability, and Volkswagen, again down the list, as 21st.

  1. Unbeatable fuel economy.

Volkswagen may have been called out recently about cheating on the American air pollution tests, but Honda is doing quite the opposite. The 2016 Civic gets 31 city/42 hwy MPG* on average. The Jetta? 28 city/39 hwy MPG* and on top of that requires premium fuel.

  1. Room for everyone.

Did you know the Civic is rated a Mid-size car by the EPA? The Jetta is only considered a Compact car because it is much smaller. In fact, you’ll notice that the Civic has 3.7 cubic feet more passenger room than the Jetta does. In addition to that, the Civic’s trunk lift-over height is 26.8 inches and the Jetta’s is 28.2. This makes loading items in the Civic much more accessible.

  1. Top-of-the-line technology.

The Civic, unlike the Jetta, offers a remote starting system, which allows you to start the vehicle from inside of the driver’s house so your car is nice and toasty by the time you enter. And speaking of toasty, the Civic and Jetta both offer front heated seats, but the Civic Touring makes heated seats available to those passengers in the rear seats! Heated rear seats are not even an option in the Jetta.

Do we have you convinced? When it comes to new cars in San Antonio, you’ll want to invest in the 2016 Honda Civic for several reasons. When you’re ready to seal the deal, stop by Benson Honda for a test drive! We’ll be happy to get you in the driver’s seat of this amazing car!

Halloween Pranks Covered by Car Insurance

If your car is egged, attempt to clean the mess up. If you catch it in time, the yolk may not do any damage.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, cars are twice as likely to be vandalized on Halloween night. The damages can consist of everything from egg yolks to slashed tires and broken windows. Hopefully you or nobody that you know had cars that were victims of last night’s festivities, but if you were, we’re going to let you in on some information that you’re going to want to read. Here are a couple Halloween pranks covered by car insurance.

Thankfully, just about every single one of the most popular Halloween car damages is covered by insurance. That includes a broken car window or slashed tires which are covered under comprehensive—better known as “other than collision”—coverage. This doesn’t mean that you should go out and slash your tires as some form of insurance fraud. The insurance company takes the depreciation of the tires into account. So if the tires were worn down or bald, you’re not going to get a check to cover the cost of a brand new set. Continue reading

Thankfully that number is down from previous years, but we are hoping to eliminate that percentage completely. So, as part of our contribution to Teen Driver Safety Week, we wanted to take the time to share a couple of safe driving tips for teenage drivers. We hope that you take these seriously. Blowing them off could result in a serious accident or even death. Continue reading

Google Offers Interactive Look at Honda Museum in Japan

Google Street View Honda Collection Hall

A few of the cars on the second floor of the Honda Collection Hall in Japan.

Google Street View is a great feature as it allows us to look at landmarks on the other side of the world without ever having to leave the comfort of our homes. While in the past the street view has been limited to just that—the street—Google is beginning to weasel its way into some really awesome buildings to provide an interactive view of the inside. Some of those buildings include car museums such as the Honda Collection Hall in Japan.

While it might not be as cool as seeing the cars in person, the  Google Street View of the Honda Collection Hall provides you with a look at cars you may never see otherwise. It’s also more exciting than looking at a picture as street view allows you to look at the cars from multiple angles. One of those angles is perhaps the biggest upside to the museum street view. You can get into some of the cars and check out the inside. Continue reading
