No two crossovers polarize consumers as much as the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. At Benson Honda in San Antonio, we’re definitely CR-V loyalists, but we do think it’s important for consumers to consider the unique benefits each of the two crossover SUVs offer. Here’s an overview of the advantages of both the 2014 Honda CR-V and 2014 Toyota RAV4:
New CR-V Advantages
*Consumer Reports estimated the new CR-V is 15% more reliable and less likely to break down than the new RAV4.
*U.S. News and World Report rated the 2014 CR-V first in the crossover SUV class, above the 2014 RAV4.
*J.D. Power and Associates rated the CR-V first in its class in their annual Initial Quality Study.
*With larger front brake rotors and more responsive brakes, the Honda crossover stops from 60 mph in 128 feet. It takes the RAV4 a whopping 135 feet to stop from 60 mph.
*The CR-V boasts vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering for easier maneuvering at slow speeds and while parking. The RAV4 lacks this useful feature.
*The new Honda offers 2.2 cubic feet more passenger space than its Toyota competitor, which means more room to stretch and more comfort for occupants.
*Intellichoice determined that the average CR-V owner spends between $642 and $12287 less than the average RAV4 owner over the first five years of ownership.
*The CR-V’s 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine produces 185 horsepower, while the RAV4’s 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine only produces 176 horsepower, which means the Honda SUV offers a more powerful experience on the road.
New RAV4 Advantages
*The RAV4 offers complimentary scheduled maintenance for 2 years or 25,000 miles (whichever comes first).
*RAV4 models come with 6-speed automatic transmission, while CR-V models come with five-speed. Some drivers may find that this extra gear enhances the RAV4’s performance.
*Car and Driver magazine determined that the RAV4’s interior was slightly quieter than the CR-V’s.
*The RAV4 comes with whiplash injury lessening seats, which prevent whiplash during car accidents.
As you can tell, both the 2014 Honda CR-V and the 2014 Toyota RAV-4 offer unique perks. Benson Honda thinks the 2014 CR-V takes the cake, though. If you’re interested in this new Honda crossover, we hope you’ll get in touch with us to schedule a test drive!
