Top 6 Reasons to Love the 2014 Accord in San Antonio

Benson Honda, your Honda dealership in San Antonio, could probably come up with a 101 reasons to love the 2014 Honda Accord, but we’ve decided to outline six of the main reasons the new Accord is such a great pick. Here are some of the many incredible things the new Accord has to offer:

1. 6-Speed Automatic Transmission

Honda added another gear to the Accord’s transmission this year, and it’s a welcome addition that allows the new Accord to accelerate more efficiently, shift more seamlessly, and conserve fuel more effortlessly.

2. Two Solid Engine Options

Accord models come with either a 185-hp, 2.4-liter, Earth Dreams 4-cylinder engine or a 278-hp, 3.5-liter, Earth Dreams V-6 engine. Both options make the Accord feel powerful and competent on the road.

3. Exceptional Fuel Economy

The Accord stands out as a fuel-efficient leader among the crowd of mid-size cars. It boasts a 24 mpg city fuel economy rating, a 36 mpg highway fuel economy rating, and a 30 mpg highway fuel economy rating.

4. Variable Cylinder Management

Accord models with V-6 engines come with this innovative feature, which can shut off cylinders depending on speed and conditions on the road to conserve fuel while optimizing overall efficiency.

5. Easy Access to Entertainment and Smartphone Content

The new Accord is equipped with things like Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, steering wheel audio controls, an audio display touchscreen, HondaLink, and a USB audio interface to ensure you stay connected to the media and smartphone content you love.

6. Top Safety Ratings

Both the 4-door Accord and the Accord Coupe were recognized by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. They received this title because they performed exceptionally well in crash tests. Without a doubt, you can expect maximum protection in a 2014 Honda Accord.

San Antonio Minivans: 2014 Toyota Sienna vs. 2014 Honda Odyssey

If you’re researching new minivan options in San Antonio, Benson Honda want to help provide you with the information you need. Both the 2014 Honda Odyssey and the 2014 Toyota Sienna are excellent options. Here are some important things to know about how they compare:

2014 Honda Odyssey Safety Accolades

2014 Honda Odyssey

Hands down, the 2014 Honda Odyssey has won the most safety awards and honors in its class. Just last week, the Odyssey won the highest safety score of 5 stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This 5-star rating was based on the Odyssey’s overall performance in a series of rigorous crash tests.

In addition to earning this prestigious honor from the NHTSA, the new Honda Odyssey was also named a Top Safety Pick + by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Only vehicles that exceeded expectations in moderate-overlap front, rollover, side, and seats tests were able to receive this distinction from the IIHS, and the Odyssey was the only new minivan to earn this title.

2014 Toyota Sienna Safety Accolades

2014 Toyota Sienna

Like its Honda competitor, the 2014 Toyota Sienna earned an overall 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA. Both the Sienna and the Odyssey were among the few in their class to score so highly. The Sienna did perform slightly less impressively than the Odyssey in side crash tests, only earning 4 stars from the administration.

The Toyota Sienna has not been fully tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and therefore has not been named a Top Safety Pick +.

2014 Honda Odyssey Performance Highlights

Consumers look for a minivan that’s reliable, efficient, and comfortable. The 2014 Odyssey is all of those things. With a 250 horsepower, V6 engine and combined fuel economy rating of 22 mpg*, the Odyssey gets you where you need to go with ease and grace while offering incredible fuel efficiency. Plus, the Odyssey offers advanced features like variable-assist power steering, complimentary Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and active noise cancellation to improve the way the minivan handles on the road and improve the overall experience of spending time in the Odyssey on the road.

2014 Toyota Sienna Performance Highlights

The 2014 Sienna’s 245 horsepower, V6 engine allows the minivan to perform well overall but doesn’t offer the same level of power and efficiency as the 2014 Odyssey’s engine, offering less horsepower and a slightly less remarkable combined fuel economy rating of 21 mpg. And while the Sienna does distinguish itself with specs that the Odyssey lacks like standard automatic dimming rear and side view mirrors, standard dual zone air conditioning, and a rear stabilizer bar, it arguably doesn’t provide an experience on par with the experience in an Odyssey. Without things like standard Bluetooth wireless connectivity, variable-assist power steering, and active noise cancellation, the ride in a new Sienna just isn’t as smooth or enjoyable.

Honda Accord News from Your San Antonio Car Dealer

2014 Honda Accord

Benson Honda, your San Antonio car dealer, is proud to announce that the Honda Accord broke a new record this past year. In 2013, for the first time ever, more Honda Accords were produced in North America than Toyota Camrys. The Toyota Camry is often thought of as the Accord’s primary rival. So, this is quite an accomplishment for the Honda mid-size vehicle.

Last year, a total of 466,695 Honda Accords were built on the assembly line at Honda’s plant in Ohio, which marked almost a 20% increase in Accord production from the previous year. Only 445,973 Toyota Camrys were produced in 2013 at the Toyota plant in Kentucky.

This spike in Accord production directly correlates to the increase in public interest in the Accord (and all Hondas, for that matter) in North America and beyond. Approximately 100,000 of the Accords produced in Ohio last year were exported to markets like South Korea and Russia. The rest of the Accord fleet was sold in the U.S.

Worldwide, Toyota produces the greatest number of vehicles of any automaker, which makes this recent Honda accomplishment particularly noteworthy. Honda’s Accord production expansion in 2013 might be a sign that the automaker has plans to position itself as the world’s most prolific automaker.

In other Honda Accord news, Kelley Blue Book recently named the 2014 Honda Accord one of the 12 Best Family Cars of the year. The Accord was also named a Top Safety Pick + by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and was given the Green Car of the Year title from Green Car Journal. It’s no wonder international interest in the Accord is on the rise and Accord production numbers are skyrocketing!
