Benson Honda to see benefits of plant expansion
Benson Honda, a leading Honda dealer in San Antonio, TX is excited to announce Honda of America’s expansion project for its Russells Point Ohio facility. Honda continues to be a brand of continued growth, innovation and production of quality vehicles. Benson Honda will continue to be your number one destination for these vehicles. Honda of America will be making $355 million worth in new investment in its Ohio facilities. According to this recent announcement, an additional $50 million will be invested in the Russells Point facility, a transmission plant.
“This latest investment in Ohio is another example of how we intend to meet the needs of our global customers by implementing advanced technologies in our production operations and in our products,” Honda Transmission president Yuji Takahashi said in a press release. “It also demonstrates our commitment to Honda’s Ohio production operations to reduce the environmental impact of our facilities while positioning this facility to compete at the highest levels on a global basis.”
By 2013, this investment will create an additional 100 jobs at Russells Point. Honda employs approximately 13,000 people in Ohio. The majority of the $50 million investment will be spent on expanding the facility, creating an additional transmission assembly line. The remaining amount will be spent on employee related improvements. Such as, an activity center, lobby and employee entrance. With the investment Honda of America will be improving its environmental impact. “The new melting furnace will implement technologies that will improve efficiencies and reduce our environmental impacts,” plant manager Gary Hand said. “These improved efficiencies will reduce waste and energy consumption.”

Benson Honda, the leading Honda dealer in San Antonio, TX, is always excited to provide its customers with the latest and greatest ride, and in December, we will have yet another offering.
Honda Motor Co. recently debuted its 2012 Honda CR-V concept at the Orange County International Auto Show in California. It served as a preview to the production vehicle that will be unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
“The 2012 CR-V Concept introduces the exterior styling for the more sophisticated and dynamic design of the upcoming production model,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. “Long considered the benchmark for packaging and user-friendly design in the small SUV segment, the all-new CR-V will offer an added dimension of style, amazing interior versatility and Honda’s latest technologies for convenience and refinement.”
The fourth generation of the compact crossover SUV, which has been the best-selling SUV in the country since 2007, sports a more aggressive grill and headlights, with deeper sculpting of the body lines and a bolder grill. The front bumper is lower than on previous models.
The model will have more cabin space and have better fuel economy than its predecessors. Powertrain details have not been released.

If you are in the market for a truck that will turn heads, handle turns, and tow, the Honda Ridgeline — the only truck in the Honda lineup — is still available at Benson Honda, one of the leading Honda dealers in San Antonio, TX.
“The Ridgeline’s not going anywhere,” said Honda spokesman Chuck Schifsky to the Birmingham News. “There is no plan currently underway or any plan in the works to kill the Ridgeline. We feel it it’s important to have a pickup truck in the line.”
Rumors have been swirling about the discontinuation of the truck, which was named Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year in 2006, but they are untrue. The unique truck is still selling, even after a parts shortage following the March earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Production resumed there last month. The Ridgeline features a 250-horsepower, 3.5 liter, V-6 engine, which is enough power for any big job. The truck can tow 5,000 pounds, but drives much like an SUV. The dual characteristics of the truck make it the perfect combination vehicle for those who need a commuting vehicle for day and a powerhouse truck for night. The crew cab fits five people — plenty of room for the whole family — and the truck’s bed is five feet long. The tailgate can fold down or open from the side, allowing for maximum flexibility, and a concealed compartment adds 8.5 cubic feet to the storage space.
The 2011 Honda Ridgeline was rated “good” — the highest score possible — in front and side impact protection from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Safety features include front and side airbags, rollover sensing side curtain airbags for both rows, electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes.
If you don’t want to decide between sleek craftsmanship and raw power, come check out the Honda Ridgeline at Benson Honda today! We’re just waiting for you at the best Honda dealer in San Antonio!
Honda continues to be a winning brand — just ask the National Hockey League.
The league recently renewed a contract allowing Honda to continue to be its official automotive partner in the United States. Benson Honda, the leading Honda dealer in San Antonio, is proud to bring you this news. The three-year agreement also gives Honda naming rights to the Honda Center, the home of the Anaheim Ducks. Honda has partnered with the league since 2008.
“With the considerable growth and popularity of hockey and the improved and robust media offerings in the last couple of years, the NHL continues to provide us with broader media buy options and greater exposure platforms,” said Tom Peyton, Honda’s brand manager, in a statement. “This partnership continues to be a great fit for Honda as we share a similar and attractive demographic with the NHL — young, affluent and educated.”
Honda will actively participate in NHL events this season including NHL All-Star Weekend, NHL Draft, NHL Winter Classic, and the NHL Awards. The car company also has plans to boost its spending and marketing with the league. Honda will continue to sponsor the NHL SuperSkills event and NHL All-Star MVP Award for the next two NHL All-Star Weekends that are held in the U.S. During those events, Honda’s name and logo will be represented in in-ice placements, in-arena spots and accompanying fan festivals.
“Honda has been a great partner for the NHL, supporting hockey at every level, and we look forward to continuing to align ourselves with a leader in the automotive industry,” said Keith Wachtel, a representative of the NHL.
