2011 Honda Odyssey Achieves Iconic Minivan Status

The 2011 Honda Odyssey minivan has become the first and only minivan to earn the highest possible safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for HighwaySafety(IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under their new more stringent testing guidelines. There has been noother minivan this year that has received bot a 2011 “Top Safety Pick” award from the IIHS and an “Overall Vehicle Score” of five stars from NHTSA.

To be named a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS a vehicle must earn the highest possible score of ‘Good’ in all four of the tests ratings; front crash, side and rear crashes and rollover performance. Vehicles are only eligible for a Top Safety Pick if they have electronic stability control as well. The award recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting vehicle occupants involved in front, side and rear crashes as well as rollover performance. The 2011 Honda Odyssey excelled in all of the categories.

The NHTSA’s Overall Vehicle Score is the newly introduced system that is part of the federal government’s New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) that is first being applied to 2011 models. This score is based off of the frontal crash safety test and both side crash safety tests in every front and rear seating positions and scenarios.

All of the 2011 Honda Odyssey vehicles utilize the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure. This is an exclusive body design that ensures occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal crashes. While reducing forces transferred to the passenger compartment the energy is distributed to provide safety in the frontal crashes.

Standard safety equipment included in the Odyssey are Vehicle Stability Assist with traction control, an anti-lock braking system, three-row side curtain airbags with rollover sensor, dual-stage multiple-threshold front airbags, a driver’s front side airbag and a front passenger’s side airbag with an occupant position detection system.

Honda Earns the #1 Ranking on AEEE’s “Greenest Vehicles of 2011”

For the Eleventh year in a row, Honda has earned the number one ranking from the

American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) for having the “greenest vehicles of 2011.” The Honda Civic GX earned the number one vehicle in the rankings for the eighth time. The Civic runs on natural gas as well, which is a credit to its’ awesome economical status. Among the other cars that were honored were the Honda Civic Hybrid, Insight, CR-Z Sport and Hybrid and the Odysseyminivan.

Honda has held the number one ranking for eleven years in a row and this is the thirteenth straight year that it has had multiple vehicles that were named in the top 12.

“ The highest level of recognition from ACEEE further illustrates Honda’s long standing commitment to developing vehicles that feature both outstanding fuel economy and low emissions,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda. “Honda is honored to have its vehicles recognized as among the greanest by an organization dedicated exclusively to environmental efficiency and sustainability.”

The ACEEE ranking system is based on health related pollution impacts and fuel economy. These are both incorporated to make the ranking system to judge on. A score is given to all of the vehicles and that is used to rank the vehicles’ total environmental performance.

Honda lives up to its’ reputation as being a standout when it comes to environmentally sustainable vehicles. Benson Honda is proud of the way Honda strives to become the best in the automaker industry at producing “green” vehicles. Benson Honda in San Antonio, Texas would like everyone to come on in and check out a brand new Honda vehicle. We also offer used vehicles as well. We hope to see you soon. Thank you.

Benson Honda has the new Honda CR-Z

Economical cars in the past have not had the most appealing sporty look, but the all new 2011 Honda CR-Z definitely changes that. A unique style which is a first of its kind will be turning heads down the street and saving you money at the pump. While the outside has amazing style and looks the inside does not disappoint either. The retro look and the colors that signal for the gauges are a sure plus. Honda has stayed true to its roots in this car.

A 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine with a battery pack runs the CR-Z, it is the same engine that is in the Honda Insight. The CR-Z has what Honda calls “mild hybrid technology” meaning that it runs on gas and the electric battery but is not considered a full hybrid. Up to 122 horsepower is put out and 128 pound feet of torque by the engine. Three buttons are on the side of the dash, sport, econ and normal. These three buttons dictate what mode you are setting for the throttle and steering. Econ mode uses less gas, and keeps you above 30 miles per gallon. It also stops and starts the car at stoplights more quickly which boosts gas mileage. Sport feels a little better to most people and has a nice powerful performance feel.

Compared to other vehicles in the CR-Z class the fuel economy is phenomenal. Rated by the EPA at 31 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway, this vehicle will definitely save you some money at the pump.

While space is not the highest attribute of this car, you are buying it for the economical and fuel-saving reasons. There is plenty of space for the driver and passengers and plenty of room to store some things in the back seats.

The 2011 Honda CR-Z has not been crash tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration but Honda has a great reputation for building quality, safe vehicles and we are confident it will do very well. This car is similar to the Honda Insight, which has done extremely well in safety tests. Standard safety features that are included in this vehicle are dual front, side and curtain airbags; active head restraints; anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control; and hill assist on manual transmission cars.

Available two versions the CR-Z comes in the base and the EX. The base model comes with automatic climate control, power windows, locks and mirrors, keyless entry, cruise control, a six-speaker CD sound system with USB connectivity and steering-wheel controls. The EX has all the base plus high-intensity discharge headlamps, Blutooth, fog lamps, leather and alloy-metal trim, an extra remote fob and an upgraded 36-watt stereo. Options include navigation and voice recognition.

Benson Honda currently has the 2011 Honda CR-Z and we would love for you to come and check one out. This is a great commuting car and we know that once you step in and drive one you will be hooked.
